Annual Christmas Party

In 2001, the Rotaract Club of South Perth organised a Christmas Party open to all Rotaract clubs in Western Australia. We have continued that tradition ever since, usually organising a barbeque at someone's home, or on occasion in a park, where South Perth Rotaractors organise the catering (ie we cook!) and the entertainment.

Within our club, we also organise a $5 "Secret Santa" every year, so that those who choose to participate recieve a mystery gift from another member of the club.

Santa Claus has been known to make an appearance some years as well, though he doesn't always believe us when we tell him we really have been good all year...

2005 Christmas Party

In 2005 we decided to try going to a more public venue, Kings Park, on a Friday evening, to relax and enjoy a barbeque together. Again we invited all the other Rotaract Clubs in WA to join us, and this year some members from the Subiaco and UWA clubs joined us.

We had a cheque for $3000 to present to the Perth Clown Doctors courtesy of our Dial-A-Santa project, so we again invited them to join us so we could make the presentation. Dr Presto did join us, and for the sake of all the new Rotaractors who didn't know about their work, gave us an overview of what they do.

Santa Claus dropped by to give out presents, after which we cooked a barbeque in the dark, and made use of some sumo-wrestling suits hired for another party but weren't being used!

2004 Christmas Party

We opted for a change of venue this year - Maya very kindly offered her house. And instead of our usual first Saturday in December, we held it on a Wednesday night in place of our usual club meeting.

Special guests included a Rotaractor from the provisional Darling Range club in our district; two visiting Rotaractors from overseas, Nina Bentley from the UK and Harald Schlutter from Germany; two Clown Doctors, Dr Wally and Dr SmartyPants, who provided fantastic entertainment and who we later presented with a cheque for $4000; and a special visit from Santa, who distributed Christmas presents to everyone.

2003 Christmas Party

Back at the Azzalini's house again, we had originally intended to do something a little different this year - we planned to hold a Christmas themed Murder Mystery night. Unfortunately, we didn't get the 11 RSVPs we needed for the night to go ahead (although enough people turned up on the night), so we cancelled that component, and instead enjoyed swimming, eating, chatting, and our first Secret Santa swap, with one Rotaractor from Subiaco joining us.

2002 Christmas Party

Our second Christmas party was again held at the Azzalinis, but to make their life easier, it was combined with the Christmas parties of the Rotary Club of Welshpool (Mr Azzalini's club), and Rotex (which Julia, Maya and Robyn belonged to at the time).

2001 Christmas Party

The first Rotaract Christmas party we organised was at the Azzalini's gorgeous home (Rotaract party central!) We were joined by Rotaractors from the Ascot and Perth clubs and friends of Julia's (which is where we first met Maya!) on the first Saturday night in December for a laid back night of eating, drinking, chatting...
