Semi-Annual Movie Nights
A popular fundraising event we have organised every 2nd year since 2002 is the special screening of a popular movie - usually Harry Potter - at the Reading Cinema in Belmont or Subiaco Ace Cinema on the opening night of the movie.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
For our first movie night, we held a special screening of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" on its opening night, 28th November 2002. This very successful event saw around 175 people attend, which with the added help of chocolate sales, raised over $1000 for Interplast.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
For our second movie night in June 2004, a special screening of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", a couple of our members dressed up for the occasion! We raised around $500.
The Da Vinci Code
While we had originally planned for our 3rd movie night to be a special screening of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" in December 2005, the cinema would not offer us cheaper tickets this time, so we cancelled it, and instead held a movie night on the opening night of "The Da Vinci Code" on 19th May 2006.
Another huge success, we had 161 attendees and raised $975 towards the self-sustainable farms project we are undertaking with our sister club in Panama.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
With the Reading Cinema no longer offering us cheaper tickets, we moved to Ace Cinema in Subiaco for our 4th movie night on 15th July 2007.
Thanks to our 116 guests and a special deal at the Candy Bar, we raised around $1000.
