Changeover Night
The Changeover Night, known in some other countries as the "Installation Ceremony", is an official event held by every Rotary and Rotaract Club and District at the end of every Rotary year (where the Rotary year follows the Australian financial year, starting on July 1). We aim to hold our Changeover Night on the first Saturday night in July.
Our Rotaract Changeover Night is a formal two or three course dinner which includes:
- toasts to Rotary, Rotaract, and Australia;
- a report about the past year from the outgoing president;
- the formal induction of the new Club President (or District Rotaract Representative if a District Changeover) with an overview of their plans for the year ahead;
- introduction of the new Club Board (or District Council); and
- presentation of awards.
In the late 90s and early part of the new millenium, Rotaract Changeover Nights in Western Australia were a combined affair, with clubs and even the District Changing over at the same function. The Rotaract Club of South Perth decided to go back to holding its own Changeover Night from 2002 instead of combining it with other clubs.
